NBA 2K24: How to Execute More Dunks Instead of Forced Layups

96 1

Hey there, hoopsters! Struggling to score those sweet slams instead of wimpy layups in NBA 2K24? I got your back. This guide’s got all the juice to help you rock the rim like a pro. Get ready to leave your opponents shook!

Breakin’ Down the Basics

First off, don’t trip if your player keeps laying up the ball instead of dunking. It all comes down to your dunk rating. Got a low dunk rating? You’re more likely to hit those layups. Boost that dunk rating and watch your player soar above the rim.

Second up, timing is everything. Just like in a real game, your timing is key to executing a killer dunk. If your timing’s off, you might end up doing a layup instead of a dunk. So, getting the controls down is key.

Throwing it Down

Now, let’s talk about throwing down some thunderous dunks. In NBA 2K24, it’s all about those trigger buttons and analog sticks:

Driving Dunk: Start by holding down the R2 trigger while driving to the rim. Once you’re in dunking distance, slam that right stick down and watch your player fly!

Wanna hang from the rim and show off a bit? Just keep holding down that R2 and your player will stay put. You can even mess around – push the right stick up to pull up, and down to drop back down. When it’s time to hit the floor, let go of R2.

Standing Dunk: Feeling like a beast in the paint? Get the ball into the post and back down your defender by holding L2 (LT for Xbox users). Once you’re under the hoop, let go of L2, smash down R2, and drive that right stick down for a savage standing dunk.

Leveling Up: Advanced Dunking Techniques

Feeling good about the basics? It’s time to step it up a notch!

  • Two-Hand Dunk: Sprint to the hoop by holding R2/RT and when you’re close, hold the Right Stick up.

  • Dominant Hand Dunk: Sprint to the basket with R2/RT held down. As you get within dunking range, hold the Right Stick to the right.

  • Weak Hand Dunk: Similar to the dominant hand dunk, but this time, hold the Right Stick to the left.

  • Flashy Two-Hand Dunk: Sprint to the basket with R2/RT and when you’re close, flick the Right Stick up, let it reset, and then quickly hold it up again.

  • Flashy One-Hand Dunk: Again, sprint to the basket with R2/RT. When you’re within dunking range, flick the Right Stick down, let it reset, and then quickly hold it up again.

  • Reverse/Contact Dunk: Hold R2/RT to sprint, and when you’re within dunking range, hold the Right Stick down.

  • Hop Dunk: Sprint up to the hoop with R2/RT. When you’re close, hold the Right Stick diagonally down towards the left or right.

  • Euro Step Dunk: Drive to the rim and hold the Right Stick diagonally downward to your off-ball hand. As you start the Euro Step animation, hold down R2/RT and point the right stick towards the rim.

  • Spin Dunk: Drive to the hoop with RT/R2 and spin the Right Stick clockwise or counterclockwise to throw down a sick spin dunk.
