Warhammer 40000: Speed Freeks Beginner’s Guide & Top Tips for Getting Started

Excited to jump into the fast-paced mayhem of Speed Freeks? This guide will help you transform your clumsy ride into a track-ruling monster. It’s time to start this WAAAGH!!! Here’s how to outthink your competitors and finish first.

Dash vs. Boost

When you need to take sharp turns or catch up to your competitors, dashing is your go-to move. I use dashes to get a quick speed boost for those challenging corners. (Here’s a tip: Aim your camera where you want to go for better handling during tight moves.) Boosting however, is about keeping high speeds on long straightaways or while in the air. I keep boost for key moments—like avoiding an enemy or making a final push for the finish line. Use it wisely to get the most out of it.

Handbrake and Air Control

The handbrake helps you make quick turns or sharp adjustments. You can use it to spin around corners or change your position. When you pair it with a dash, you can make fast tight turns but be careful not to overuse it—it might slow you down more than you want. When you’re in the air, air control is the best way to adjust your vehicle’s angle and land . This technique is useful to avoid crashes and make sure you land the way you intend.

Advanced Driving Techniques

If you want to improve your skills further here are some advanced techniques:

Dash 180: Want to switch directions ? The dash 180 allows you to turn around without slowing down. I press the handbrake then dash, and boom—I’m spinning like a champ. This move comes in handy to switch between attack and defense in a hurry.

Dash Landing: To maintain your speed when you hit the ground after a jump, press and hold the dash button as you land. I aim to point the car’s nose downward for a smoother landing. This helps keep your momentum and prevents a sudden stop.

Wall Dash: Hitting walls to bounce off them can stun opponents or help you get out of tight spots. Just make sure your car’s bottom touches the wall to do this move right.

Game Modes and Strategies

Different game modes need different approaches:

Deff Rally: In Deff Rally, try to grab and hold points while moving to the next target. I use my vehicle’s fighting skills to shove rivals away and lock down important areas on the map.

Kill Convoy: For Kill Convoy, pick up bombs and set them off on enemy Stomas at the right times. Work with your team to plan where to put bombs and disrupt the enemy’s plans. Finding a balance between attacking and smart bomb use is crucial to win.

Vehicles and Abilities

Speed Freeks starts with eight unique vehicles each with its own strengths and special moves. Here’s a quick overview:

Boomdakfa Snazzwagon: A buggy for close combat with daaka (Orc for gunfire) and burner bottles to melt enemies. Its smoky exhaust helps to escape.

Rukkatrukk Squig Buggy: A vehicle to support by restoring health to team members with grub squigs and placing Squig mines for solid defense.

Looted Wagon: An armored tank to deal long-range damage with its cannon and grot-guided bombs. It’s ideal to take out enemies from far away.

Kustom Boosta Blasta: This fast hot rod has a medium-range rivet cannon and can shoot into the sky with explosive power. It’s perfect to make quick moves and for high-flying action.

Unlocking Content

To boost your ride options and improve your game, look at the Challenger screen to see what you need to unlock new vehicles. Finishing challenges will open up more choices. The Waaagh Path doesn’t have a time limit, so you can move forward at your own speed to unlock new vehicles and ways to customize them. To get extra ways to change your look, think about getting the loot pass from the in-game mech shop. It’s a cool way to get new looks and upgrades for your vehicles.
