Mortal Online 2: What is the Punishment for Murder?

Player killing is like a plague to MMORPGs, turning entire communities into toxic cesspools. While it used to be a common thing in the past, developers are now actively trying to curb the issue in innovative ways.

Mortal Online 2 is known for its realism, and this extends to the punishment system. Not only do player killers receive debuffs, but safeguards are also in place to protect the victim even after their death. You can also check out our other Mortal Online 2 guides here.

Punishments that will make you reconsider murdering the innocent in Mortal Online 2

  • When you attack a player (or animal) with a blue nickname, you gain the “Criminal” status for 120 seconds, and your nickname turns gray. You will be attacked and killed by city guards right away, and any player can attack and kill you with impunity without being labeled “Criminal.”

  • You can take items from a gray bag (killed criminal or mob) without consequences, but if you take something from a blue bag, you will be labeled a “Criminal.” Do not take anything from the blue bags in the cities: you will be killed by the guards, and other players will take your belongings.

  • After killing a player with a blue nickname, your Murder Count will increase.

  • Nicknames turn gray for players who have a Murder Count above 5. Others will be able to kill you without consequences; you will not be able to respawn with priests in cities, but only with “red priests” standing outside the cities.

  • Murder Count decreases by one every 8 hours in the game.

  • Furthermore, when you respawn, an innocent player that you killed may report you as a bandit, resulting in a lowered reputation with one of the factions. If this faction’s reputation falls below zero, all of its city guards will turn hostile. You can improve your reputation by transporting parcels between city taverns.

  • During wars between guilds, members of the enemy clan will have red nicknames. Even within a protected city, it is possible to attack them without obtaining the “Criminal” status and lowering reputation.

Parting thoughts

Player killing is appealing given how unique the loot can be in Mortal Online 2. A master alchemist or chef can have all sorts of unique concoctions that’ll come in handy during battles.

However, considering the severity of penalties, it’s not worth the hassle. Instead, you can check out our Mortal Online 2 cooking and alchemy guide and craft unique items by yourself.

I’ve loved games ever since I was a child. I like playing them and sharing my feelings with other like-minded individuals. I started off writing as a hobby, and a few years later, my love for games is still as lively as ever and I intend to spread it throughout the gaming community.
