Mortal Online 2 Beginner’s Guide: Tips & Tricks

Mortal Online 2 Beginner’s Guide: Tips & Tricks

Mortal Online 2 is a unique MMORPG that was released recently. This highly skill-based online game garnered a lot of praise for its deep combat and crafting systems, as well as having no holds barred open-world PVP. As a beginner, you’ll likely be confused at first which is why the game has a tutorial zone. This area acts as a buffer where players can’t kill each other so that you can focus on learning the game’s mechanics before stepping into the light in the center of the town.

Our Mortal Online 2’s beginner guide will walk you through a few tips for getting the most out of this tutorial area. You can also check out our other Mortal Online 2 guides here.

Understand Clade Gifts

Mortal Online 2 has an incredibly flexible character-building system. At its core lies the Clade Gifts panel found in the rightmost portion of your character window. It comprises a series of rings of skills that expands outwardly. The outermost ring contains actual perks and active skills you can obtain for your character. To get to them, though, you need to start by spending your perk points on the innermost skills and working your way outwards.

Don’t worry if you mess up, as you can unlearn your Clade Gifts at any time by pressing the Unlearn button.

Learn Mortal Online 2’s Combat System

Mortal Online 2 has a combat system that rewards mechanical skills and good combat decision-making. It has a directional targeting system for both attacking and defending, for starters. By directing your camera anywhere then pressing the attack button, your character will swing their weapon in or from that angle. The same goes for blocking. You can defend in any direction by looking and pressing the right mouse button.

Another aspect of attacking involves the targeting reticle. By holding down your attack button, you’ll see the circle fill up. Releasing the button makes your character swing their weapon. By filling up the ring, you do your maximum damage. Likewise, if you tap the button, you’ll do significantly less. Furthermore, if you hold down the attack button for too long, the reticle will flash, which means you’ll deal reduced damage. Therefore, it’s essential to ensure you attack at the right time, just as the reticle fills up entirely.

Get Skill Boosts from Combat Tutor

Mortal Online 2 Beginner’s Guide: Tips & Tricks

Beginners to Mortal Online 2 should seek out the Combat Tutor located within the center of the tutorial town. You can learn more about the game’s combat by chatting with this NPC. More importantly, though, you can talk to them about the various weapon types, with each dialogue option granting you a slight skill boost. It’s free character progression, so don’t skip out on it.

Get Easy Early Money

Spending time in the tutorial zone is worth your time because everything you do carries over to the main game. This includes any money you make. Here are a few quick ways you can make some decent starter money to buy gear and materials:

  • Harvest crops from the town farm and sell them

  • Kill zombies in the graveyard located in the south-east of the town

  • Butcher enemies to gather materials you can then sell

Read Books to Learn Skills

A Forest in Mortal Online 2

There are hundreds of skills to learn in Mortal Online 2. All of them can be acquired in various ways. To get an early start and make good use of the money you’ve made, you’ll want to hit up the library. Just north of the center of the tutorial town, you’ll find a building with a book sign. Go in there and speak to the different librarians to buy books you can afford. We recommend starting with some crafting books to learn to make weapons and armor.
