Animal Trading

Here are some examples of typical terrestrial animals: Giant pandas, Aardvark, Saltwater Crocodile. These animals need a habitat that includes barriers, food, enrichment, and suitable terrain. The Animal Market displays animals for sale. As far as I understand, the selection is mostly random, except in Sandbox mode where all animals are displayed. The market shows prices in either dollars or Conservation Credits, which are represented by green leaves. You can earn these credits by releasing animals into the wild. In offline mode, you need to improve your zoo’s reputation to earn these credits.

When you select an animal in the market, you can see various details such as gender, name, availability for adoption, size, longevity, fertility, immunity, star rating, and where the animal is being sold from. After you adopt an animal, it goes to your Animal Storage and remains in your Animal Trade Centre until you decide to move it. Either a Vet or a Keeper will be responsible for moving it. Other options in this menu include checking your purchase history and accessing any animals you’ve been rewarded with.

Exhibit Trading

There are also animals that the game places in what it calls an Exhibit. These can be found under the Facilities tab in the Small Animal Exhibits sub-group. The Exhibit Animal Market is similar to the Animal Market but only displays the animal’s name, star rating, gender, longevity, fertility, and source. Animals in Exhibits don’t have any additional space requirements beyond the Exhibit itself.

When you click on the Small Animal Exhibit, you can view and improve the animal’s welfare. In the layout tab, you can provide enrichment such as rocks, if you’ve researched that option. In the climate tab, you can adjust the temperature and humidity, and the tab shows the recommended levels for both. In the windows tab, you can open and close all four windows, and you can even create 2D and 3D facades for the animal. The other tabs in this section are Logs, which show upkeep costs, and Maintenance, which displays the work zone and the time since the last visit.
