Metal Slug Awakening - Beginner's Guide and Tips

Hey, guess what? Metal Slug Awakening is out now! Remember those crazy fights where you missed getting shot? That’s back, for real!!

But Tencent’s stepped it up with some new stuff. They’ve got World Adventure for fighting all over the place, 3-player team-ups for high-fives, and Roguelike for people who want never-ending challenges. My head’s spinning from the old memories (and maybe a few big booms…). We’ve got some great advice to help you rule the battlefield so get ready, soldier – it’s time to let loose some serious metal madness!

Summoning 101

Weapons vs. Characters:

Get your hands on weapons first. You need them to wake up your characters’ epic skills. No decent weapons, no awesome moves.

Unlocking Features: As you keep playing, you’ll see more stuff like promotion show up. If something’s not there yet just keep going and it’ll pop up at some point.

Weapon Debuffs:

Change Things Up: For various debuffs such as wound, weaken, freeze, and ignite, you should have different weapons. Look for a unique debuff symbol on each weapon.

Use All Your People: Don’t just use one person. Get all three in there to cause lots of trouble when fighting big bosses. This way, you can do the most damage possible.

Game Modes

Hot Pursuit:

AFK Rewards: Hot Pursuit helps you out. It makes your offline rewards bigger as you beat levels. You get more free stuff while you’re not playing!

Better Gear: Going further in Hot Pursuit lets you get higher-level gear. You start with level 1 stuff, but as you finish more chapters, you can unlock cooler gear to make your characters stronger.

Clubs (Guilds):

Hop into a Buzzing Club: Jump into a club that’s buzzing and top-tier. Clubs, also known as guilds, dish out awesome benefits such as snagging awesome rewards and high-tech advancements.

Perks of Being in a Club: Belonging to a club on the higher end of the spectrum means scoring access to cooler stuff in the club shop and getting access to tech enhancements that can lift your game stats.

Gear & Upgrades

Weapon Upgrades:

Smart Upgrades: Don’t spread your stuff all over the place. Put your energy into getting one weapon to level 20 or 30 to unlock cool bonuses.

Reset Option: No need to worry if you mess up and upgrade the wrong thing. The game lets you start over and get your resources back without any trouble.

Accessories:

Special Gear: Remember to put accessories on the right characters. Each piece of gear works for one specific character and makes their special skills better. For example, Marco’s stuff won’t do much good on anyone else.

Gear Recycling:

Recycling Old Gear: Transform your weak gear into gold using the recycle function; spend that gold at the challenge store on more helpful items and stuff to make your gear better.

Core System

What You Need to Know About Cores:

Making Cores Better: Cores work like gear in other games where you play a role. They have a main stat and you can make them better to unlock substats.

Spend Smart: Put your resources into cores that let you see extra stats upfront. Throwing resources into cores with haphazard stats might lead to a waste if the extra stats are no good.

Different Types of Cores: Green ones don’t have substats. Blue and purple ones are better because they show substats earlier, which helps you decide where to put your resources.

Team Missions:

Getting Cores: Team missions give you cores as rewards. These cores have random stats, but they’re super important to make your characters stronger.

Advanced Tips

Debuff Strategy:

Maximize Debuffs: Keep switching up your weapons and characters to pile on as many different debuffs on the bad guys as you can. This is gonna crank up the damage you do.

Leveling Gear:

Hot Pursuit Progression: Don’t stop pushing your limits in Hot Pursuit because that’s how you’ll get your hands on better gear. Remember, this is your one shot to level up your gear ’cause you can’t make ’em better with materials.

Club Benefits:

Elite Squads: You wanna get in with the top-tier crowd. Doing that scores you some sweet gear from the club shop and some major upgrades in tech.
