Crusader Kings III – Dread Guide
Dread is all about how much your Vassals are quaking in their boots because of their ruler. If you’ve got enough Dread stacked up, you can make characters feel Intimidated or even Terrified. There are two kinds of Dread we’re dealing with here: Natural Dread and Decaying Dread.
Natural Dread: This is the kind of Dread that sticks with you, thanks to your character’s Traits. It sets the baseline, the least amount of Dread your character can have.
Decaying Dread: Now, this one piles up on top of your Natural Dread. You rack it up by pulling off some pretty hardcore moves, like torturing or offing your Prisoners.
When someone’s Intimidated, they’re less likely to throw in with Factions or Schemes against you. But if they’re Terrified?? Forget about it, they won’t even think about joining any Factions or Schemes against you. Plus, it plays a big role in how they respond to different interactions with you.
