WoW Classic – What is the hunter dead zone and how does leeway affect it?

The hunter dead zone is approximately 5-11 yards standing still and is the distance range from your target that you cannot cast ranged or melee (except scatter shot or pet abilities) When both you and your target are moving the dead zone is smaller on the melee side. This “Leeway” adds 2.66 yards to the melee reach of players, which makes our dead zone 7.66 – 11 yards with leeway. Tauren gains an additional 2~ yards, so their dead zone is 7-13 and 9.66 – 13 respectively.
