The Diablo series has long been the premier isometric action role-playing game series, inspiring endless impersonators since the first game was released in 1997. The game’s intoxicating blend of RPG mechanics, combat, and equipment/loot has kept fans loyal to the series all this time. Unfortunately, Blizzard doesn’t seem to want to release Diablo sequels in a timely manner, with the gap between Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 being 12 whole years. While we continue to wait for the eventual Diablo 4, the developer has released Diablo Immortal, a smartphone-focused Diablo game that is available now, and scratches that Diablo itch for the time being. Diablo Immortal is a fully-featured Diablo game despite its primary platform, making it fairly complex.

Don’t Waste Time Picking Up Items

Like every other Diablo game, Diablo Immortal will constantly be throwing all kinds of items and equipment at you. When these items are scattered on the floor, new players will probably go from item to item, studying them and taking a bunch of time to pick out what they want to take. Don’t do that. The game has a selectable option in its setting menu that is called “Auto-Pickup”. This is one of the most useful settings in the game, and you should turn it on immediately.

Every piece of equipment in Diablo is randomly generated and contains a number of buffs outside of its attack or defense stats, and these buffs can be transferred to new equipment to create the ultimate armor set. Picking up everything you find is going to be the best way to make sure you don’t miss any really awesome buffs.

Use Health Potions Wisely

Throughout Diablo Immortal, you will have access to a maximum of 3 health potions at any time. When fighting mobs, your health potions will refill, so in those situations, you can use them pretty frequently without worrying about them running out. This is helpful when fighting beefier units in conjunction with grunts. However, there are also boss fights in the game, where it will be you against a single powerful enemy. In these situations, your potions will not replenish, so you should use them more sparingly and avoid taking damage.

Check Your Loot For Upgrades Frequently

Once you have Auto-Pickup turned on, your inventory will be full of awesome pieces of equipment for you to look through. It is highly recommended that you look through the items you have picked up to see if there are any possible upgrades as often as you can. Whether it be offensive or defensive, you want to make sure that your power is steadily increasing as you progress through the game. You’ll want to enjoy these power increases in the early game because by the time you reach the end you will only have incremental stat boosts.

Turn in Battle Pass Quests Strategically

Like most free-to-play games, Diablo Immortal has a Battle Pass system in which you can gain experience and rewards by completing various objectives as you play. As soon as you are able to turn in one of these quests, you will get a notification on your UI. However, you shouldn’t turn those in right away. Rather, it is worth saving all of those quest rewards until you reach one of Diablo Immortal’s many roadblocks, where you need to be at a certain level in order to progress. If you redeem those quests at this point, it will get you up to level much faster and prevent you from needing to grind through old locations to level up.

Get Those Dailies

Another staple of the free-to-play formula is the incentive to play the game every single day. In Diablo Immortal, logging in and killing a single enemy will net you fantastic rewards that change from week to week and day to day. Out of all of the things you can do in this game to get rewards, the daily login bonus is by far the most time-efficient. For a total of maybe 30 seconds, you can get items and equipment that will go a long way towards helping you through the game.

Stick to a Single Character

As has become a tradition for Diablo, Diablo Immortal gives players multiple character slots. However, unless you have fully maxed out your initial character (which is impossible to do in a decent length of time without spending an exorbitant amount of money), you should not be jumping from character to character. You should stick to your first character and build them out to see everything the game has to offer first, and then you can play around with a new character and a different class.
