Crusader Kings 3: Can We Inherit Baronies from Other Counties and Detach Them as Our Direct Vassals?

You can inherit baronies within your own counties, but not from counties owned by others. In cases where you might try to inherit a barony from another county, the barony will go to the person who owns that county.

Remember baronies are always viewed as part of a county. That said, it’s possible to lease baronies to other leaders, like Holy Orders. This lets them manage and profit from the barony, but it doesn’t actually leave your domain.
