I saw Honey I Shrunk the Kids at a young age. For most people, that movie is a delightful family-friendly comedy with some science fiction aspects that tie it all together. For me, that movie is a terrifying nightmare of a world that exists within our own. Giant ants, the threat of being stepped on and crushed by loved ones, just about everything in that movie is horrifying.

I had to watch that movie several times before I could get through the whole thing without covering my eyes, but I understand the fascination with the movie now. As an adult, I’ve also really enjoyed games that pull off the same situation and put you in the tiny shoes of a shrunken human in the normal world. Games like Grounded by Obsidian, and now Smalland by Merge Games.

Smalland: Survive the Wilds is an Early Access multiplayer survival open-world crafting game that also features base building. Like Honey I Shrunk the Kids and Grounded, Smalland also puts you in someone’s backyard and makes you face insects both beautiful and scary, as well as lizards, frogs, and other creatures.

It’s easy to freeze up when a moth attacks you, but I have the solution for your frozen mind that gets wiped of any useful information.
