The first time you may wonder how to travel systems is during the Nevada Bound mission early on, where you need to get to the Nevada system. For this, you’ll need a jump drive. These are fairly pricey at 20,000 credits, so spend some time doing missions and trading in the first system.

Once you have a jump drive, you can choose which system to go to from the region map, then switch to your local map to locate the relevant jump gate. Simply autopilot there and hold the appropriate button to perform the jump.
