Fields of Mistria Beginner's Guide: Essential Tips and Tricks for New Players

New to Fields of Mistria and feeling a bit confused? No worries, I’m here to help. This guide will show you the game basics how to unlock different parts of the game, and give you some key tips for beginners to help you settle into Mistria’s magical world. Let’s get started!

Getting Started

Storage Tips

  • You’ll spot your small backpack right away. Don’t worry! You can toss items on the ground, and they’ll stay put. This works for tools and anything else you grab.

  • Say you water your crops. Just drop your watering can next to them when you’re done. The next day, pick it up, water your crops, and drop it again.

  • This trick helps with foraged items too. When your backpack gets full just drop some stuff on the ground and keep gathering. You can come back to get them later.

Essential Tools

Unlike other farming games, you don’t start with all your tools. Here’s how to get each one:

  • Watering Can & Hoe: Celine and Hayden give you these in the game allowing you to start farming right away.

  • Axe: Help Eiland remove a tree in a cutscene on the second day to receive your axe.

  • Pickaxe: On the same day take on the “Do a Bro a Favor” quest from the board and talk to Rri. You’ll get your pickaxe after a short cutscene.

  • Bug Net: You can obtain this on Spring 4th through a quest titled “Something’s Bugging Me.” Go to the inn and meet Luc to acquire it.

  • Fishing Rod: Get this at the Tackle shop on the beach for 500 gold.

  • Spade: Buy from the General Store for 500 gold.

Here’s a smart move: Don’t buy the old equipment. Instead, hang on until you can access the mines and gather copper to make better tools. Copper tools cost less at 480 gold each and work better.

Early Game Tips

Crafting

Fields of Mistria lets you use the town’s crafting benches instead of building your own. This makes things easy. You can find them here:

  • Cooking: Go to the Sleeping Dragon Inn’s kitchen.

  • Woodworking: Look for the bench near the church or the one next to the carpenter shop.

  • Blacksmithing: Check out the workbench outside the blacksmith.

These benches use resources from your storage chests eliminating the need to carry materials. They also include pre-loaded recipes such as essential copper tools and furniture.

Animals

  • To raise animals, purchase blueprints for a coop (1,500 gold) and a barn (2,000 gold) at the carpenter shop. Set the blueprint on your farm, collect the needed materials, and construct it.

  • Then, go to Hayden’s farm to adopt animals. Make sure you return your animals to the coop or barn every night, or you won’t receive any products the following day.

Managing Weeds

  • Weeds and junk pop up fast. To keep your farm clean, build fences at the carpenter’s bench (10 wood each). Fences stop weeds from growing on your farmed land.

Getting Around the World

Jumping and Swimming

  • Jumping changes the game in Fields of Mistria. It helps you move around more in the mines and on your farm. Instead of breaking every rock, you can just jump over them.

  • You can swim too! This helps you cross rivers fast, and it’s great to catch hard-to-get fish.

  • Keep an eye out for diving spots, which aren’t the same as fishing spots. Jump in to gather water resources, fish, and more.

The Beach

  • The beach sits on the town’s southwest side and is a goldmine. You can gather shells to sell for about 20 gold each. This offers a nice extra income.

The Mines

  • You can’t get into the mines until Spring 6th. Finish the quest that day to open them up.

  • The mines are set up like other farming games, with elevators every five floors. Try to go down five levels each visit to keep your progress.

Making Money

Quest Board

  • The quest board located beside the General Store, serves as your daily source of income. Make sure to check it each day for new quests.

  • Don’t stress if you skip a day; quests never expire and have no time constraints once you take them on.

Renown Rewards

  • Every night, the game figures out your Renown based on item sales, quest completions, and museum donations. As your Town’s Prestige goes up, you earn rewards.

  • You can grab these from the chest next to the quest board.

Character Customization

  • Quests give you clothes that unlock full sets in many colors.

  • You can access all of them from the menu anytime, without having to craft or build a wardrobe.

  • You can change any part of how you look whenever you want.

Stamina Regeneration

You can restore stamina in several ways:

  • Juniper’s Bath House: Completely fills up your stamina for a price.

  • The Sleeping Dragon Inn: Gives you a free 20 stamina boost from the bubbling pot of stew.

  • Fountain in the Deep Woods: You can reach this after breaking a rock with a copper pickaxe. When you drink from the fountain, you get a free 20 stamina boost.

  • 1 3 1
