Overworld Pokemon

The ones you see physically walking around from afar. You can tell what Pokemon it is before even fighting it, they are easy to spot.

Non-Overworld Pokemon

Randomly appearing Pokemon when you walk through grass. They are only revealed when you start fighting them (you can tell by them having a black outline at the start of combat). This is how it worked in old Pokemon games.
