To raise a strong monster, you have to keep an eye on various parameters.
Monster Rancher 2 Monster Training Tips & Hints
LOYALTY
- A monster’s loyalty will fluctuate between 0-100 based on your training methods.
- Monsters with low loyalty are more likely to become confused during a tournament battle, and monsters with high loyalty are more likely to try harder during training and errantry.
- You can increase your monster’s loyalty by praising it after battles or by using certain special items.
Training Style
- There are 7 training style statuses: Doting > Fond > Soft > Even > Strict > Harsh > Spartan.
- The gentler the training style, the longer your monster will live, but it will also make it more difficult to raise their ability levels. Harsher training styles will make the monsters work harder, but their lifespan will also be shortened.
- Keep an eye on your monster’s training style status when you feel like your training is not going well.
Stress Levels
- Monsters will accumulate stress during drills, errantry, tournaments, and adventures.
- Stress greatly affects the lifespan of your monster.
- At the beginning of each week, you will learn about your monster’s stress levels from Colt.
- Rest and playing will reduce the monster’s stress. You can also use Mint Leaf to reduce stress. Be careful not to let your monster’s stress levels grow to great.
Using Techniques
- A more powerful technique can sometimes be learned once you’ve used a technique numerous times.
- When you have the opportunity, try using a single technique over and over in a tournament.
Nature
- Apart from their loyalty, monsters are born with positive or negative natures. Nature comes in five different types: Best > Good > Neutral > Bad > Worst.
- A monster’s nature can change depending on how they are treated.
- In addition to affecting training results, a monster’s nature will also affect their performance in battle and what techniques they can learn.
“Best” Nature
- When in trouble, monsters with the “Best” nature can enter a special state that will allow them to reverse the flow of the battle and sometimes even pull off a counter-KO.
- They learn more Restoration and Critical type techniques.
“Worst” Nature
- Monsters with the “Worst” nature get angry when attacked. Angry monsters have a higher critical rate.
- They learn more Drain and Damage type techniques.
