Solution 1

Login failed error: Please change your nickname to one with UTF8 characters only (e.g. don’t use special characters!). This should fix the problem.

If the above mentioned solution doesn’t help, please try additionally to verify your game installation: Right click on game in library -> Properties -> Local Files -> Verify integrity of game files…
