FIFA 22 – How to Set Up Free Kicks

When the referee pulls out the vanishing spray after a foul, the first thing you want to do is double-check that you’re using the correct player for the job. Usually, if you don’t make any changes, the game will select the best free-kick taker from your team.

If not, or if you want to focus on a specific statistic, press R2 (PS4 & PS5) / RT (Xbox One & Xbox Series X I S) to change the player. Power (PWR), Free Kick Accuracy (FKA), and Curve are the stats you’re looking for (CRV.) Choose who takes it depending on the situation – if you need more power or curve, make sure your choice reflects that.

Once that’s done, you can move the free-kick taker around the ball by flicking the right stick left, right, or up. You can also call for a second and third player to take the free-kick from an angle that may fool your opponent by pulling L2/LT and then R1/RB.
