Concord Beginner's Guide: Essential Tips and Tricks for New Players

Concord is a space hero shooter set in the future created by Firewalk Studios and PlayStation. You’ll play as a Freegunner teaming up with others to rule the galaxy. This guide will help you get a better start in the game. Are you ready to dominate? Let’s jump in and prepare you for victory…

Your Freegunner

When you start Concord, one of your first tasks is to pick your Freegunner. This decision can shape your entire match experience. The game offers six different roles each with unique strengths and weaknesses. It’s crucial to find a Freegunner that matches how you like to play.

Rangers are jack-of-all-trades suiting players who like to change strategies as needed.

Wardens fit those who enjoy guarding objectives and standing their ground.

Haunt suits you if you prefer to ambush foes and land swift deadly hits.

Concord Beginner's Guide: Essential Tips and Tricks for New Players

Breachers appeal to tough guys who enjoy smashing enemy defenses with raw power.

Anchors can withstand hits and keep fighting, perfect for those who like close combat.

Tacticians help out by using skills to manage the battlefield and back up team members.

Give yourself some time to try out different roles in practice sessions or casual games. You might discover that a Freegunner you didn’t think much of at first turns out to be your ace in the hole. I used to think I was a Breacher through and through, but after playing a few matches as a Tactician, I realized how much I enjoy backing up my team and shaping the course of the fight.

Game Modes

Concord has different game modes each with its own goals and plans. Here’s a quick overview:

Area Control: Take over three zones to get points. You get extra points if you control all zones.

Cargo Run: Get a cargo package and bring it to an extraction zone. Teams can fight for the zone.

Clash Point: Take a central zone that opens during the round. You win by keeping the zone or wiping out the other team.

Signal Hunt: Hold a central zone to score points as time passes. This mode was listed before but might come back with a new name.

Takedown: Classic Team Deathmatch where teams get points for each kill. The game ends at 30 kills.

Trophy Hunt: Get bounty cards when you beat enemies. Stop other players from scoring by taking their trophies. You can’t score more than 30 cards.

In Trophy Hunt, think about using a Haunt or Ranger to grab trophies and get away before enemies can do anything. Being fast and sneaky helps you a lot in this game mode.

Job Board

The Job Board has many challenges that give you rewards when you finish them. These jobs include daily and weekly tasks as well as bigger seasonal challenges. Also, jobs for specific variants let you try out different Freegunners and ways to play.

Make it a priority to finish daily tasks, as they offer a consistent flow of rewards and help you advance quickly. I usually tackle the simpler ones right after logging in, which allows me to focus on bigger challenges as I get into the groove.

Health Packs

Knowing the locations of health packs can make a huge difference during intense fights. Stay alert to your environment and think about escape routes that lead to health packs. When you’re in a tough spot, a well-timed retreat to grab a health pack can change the outcome of a battle.

Personal Tip: When I play as a Warden, I like to stay close to a health pack while defending an objective. This helps me last longer and keeps my team in charge of the point.

Abilities

Abilities are your secret weapons in Concord. Each Freegunner has a special ability that can change the course of a fight ranging from attack moves to defense strategies. Abilities take time to recharge, but you can find ability packs spread across the map to quickly refill them.

1-Off’s trash-sucking ability is one of my top picks to break up enemy groups. It makes a mess and forces opponents to move giving your team a chance to advance or regroup.

Crew Building

Putting together and tweaking your team is one of the most enjoyable and tactical parts of Concord. A diverse crew can handle everything from attack and defense to backing up others. Consider how your Freegunners work together. For instance, teaming up a Breacher with a Tactician can result in a strong combination mixing raw power with smart assistance.
