Across the Obelisk - Pet Guide - What they do and how to obtain them!

There are currently 7 pets in the game, though finding them all can be a challenge as many of them require items beforehand, and a few require specific pathing through the maps. Many people have been asking how to acquire specific pets, so I decided to throw together a guide outlining how to collect each one!

Pet Guide – What they do and how to obtain them!

Betty – The Ba-a-a-a-ddest of pets!

Stats:

+3% mind resistance and +3% cold resistance

[Every Turn] Cast the card “Tantrum”

[Tantrum]:

Target: Random Monster

Effect: Deal 5 mind damage and apply 1 stack of insane

How to obtain:

To obtain Betty you will have to get a bit lucky on the first map; she has located 2 nodes to the right of the starting town; however, she will only show up when that event node is of blue rarity and named “The Lost Sheep.” If you go to the node, she is supposed to spawn on when the rarity isn’t blue, the node will be named “A grave on the road” and won’t yield the pet. When you get to the node, you will have two options, you want to choose [Combat], and after the fight, you will be able to go straight north from your current node to another combat node.

After completing this combat, you will want to go north once more to the quest node where you will have 4 dialogue options, you want to choose the [Murder] option, which will open up the item rewards menu, and Betty will be there for one of the characters to use.

Flamy – The Living Fireball!

Stats:

+6% fire resistance

[Every Turn] Cast the card “Fire Ember.”

[Fire Ember]:

Target: Random Monster

Effect: Deal 6 fire damage and apply 2 stacks of burn

How to obtain:

Starting, you need to go two nodes up from the starting town and then two nodes to the right from there to the Map Transition node named “Suspicious Hatch – The Hatch.” When going to this tile, you will have 3 dialogue options unless Cornelius is in your party (then 4). You will want to select the [Enter] option to guarantee entry into The Hatch regardless if Cornelius is in the party or not (note: Some party members may gain the “Broken Bone” wound card, but if you fail the other skill checks, you don’t get into The Hatch).

Once inside, continue across the map, either way, you like until you get to the final Event Node named “Summoning Circle – The Summoning Ritual.” Once you get to the Summoning Circle node, you will have a combat encounter or roll well enough on your skill check that the cultists let you join them. You will then gain a second dialogue on the same node with 3 dialogue options unless Cornelius is in your party (then it will be 4). You will want to choose the [Persuade] option, which is a skill check unless Cornelius is at the party, in which case you will want to choose his option “Hello…old friend…we meet again.” You need to beat the skill check. Belphyor will give you the quest item “Belphyor Scroll,” which also begins the quest “Revenge of the Imps” unless you chose Cornelius’s dialogue option, in which case Belphyor will give you the scroll without requiring a skill check.

Continue to defeat Ylmer, after which you will want to Cross the Reddish Portal. After going to the second town, you will want to move two tiles right of the town to the Quest End node named “Stone Table – The Banquet.” Once here, the dialogue option you will want to pick is [Accept]. Use the scroll and release the Imps. Doing this will begin combat, after which you will get a dialogue option to [Loot] Open the chest and decide on Flamy.

He will be one of your Item Rewards and can be selected by any of the characters.

Liantӓ – The Spider Queen!

Stats:

+5% shadow resistance

[Every Turn] Cast the card “Poisonous Bite.”

[Poisonous Bite]:

Target: Front Monster

Effect: Deal 5 piercing damage and apply 3 stacks of poison

How to obtain:

To obtain Liantӓ you will need to defeat Ylmer and then cross to the Greenish portal. Once on the second map, you will need to head to the Map Transition node named “Spider Lair.” You can guarantee your path thereby heading south through the “Creeper Bridge” combat node or by heading to the “Shore – Broken Boat” Event node (note: failing the skill check at the Shore will result in your party taking wound cards).

Once you make it to the Map Transition “Spider Lair” node, you will need to pass the skill check to make it to Liantӓ. If you fail the skill check, you can either reset to try the skill check until you succeed or try again next run.

Once you are in the spider cave, you need to go to the “Dead Adventurer – A Narrow Gap” Event Node and choose the [Enter] dialogue option to attempt to make it through the gap. If you have Grukli in your party, you can choose his dialogue option and auto-succeed. After passing the skill check, a hidden room will appear on the map, and you want to choose the “Secret Cave – A Place to Rest” event node.

All that’s left to do is select the [Open] Open the mysterious cocoon dialogue option, which will open the item rewards screen and allow you to select Liantӓ for one of your characters.

Mozzy – Grukli’s Best Friend!

Stats:

+5% slashing resistance

[Every Turn] Cast the card “Bloodsucker.”

[Blood Sucker]:

Target: Self

Effect: Self heal X (X equals your blood stacks x 0.5) and consume your blood stacks

Gold Needed to Obtain:

1000 gold

How to obtain:

To obtain Mozzy, you need to defeat Ylmer and cross to the Greenish Portal. Once on the second map, you will need to get a bit lucky and have the node before the “Voodoo Hut” node roll Blue rarity. If this happens, you will want to head to the event node named “Marsh Deeps – The Mosquito Nest” by going through the “Crocomen Mafia” node and buying the boat through the [Pay] dialogue option as a failure on the other options means you won’t be able to go to the correct node.

Once you reach the “Mosquito Nest” node, you will want to select the [Steal] dialogue option, which requires you to pass a skill check. Or, if you have Thuls in your party, you can select his dialogue option to auto-succeed. You will know you’ve done it correctly if you gain the Mosquito Egg item in your bag of useful items found at the top of your screen.

The next step is to continue through this map and defeat the Hydra boss. After defeating the Hydra you will want to head across the Reddish portal, and on this map, you will see a Rare event node with an egg next to it named “Mosquito Egg,” this is where you will want to head. Take whichever path you like to get to this node, and once there, you will want to choose the [Continue]. Place the egg near the lava to hatch dialogue option. Doing this will open up an Item Rewards screen where one of your characters will select Mozzy as a pet.

Sharpy – The Need for Speed!

Stats:

+5% piercing resistance

[Every Turn] Cast the card “Wind Blessing.”

[Wind Blessing]:

Target: Self

Effect: Gain 1 stack of Fast and 1 stack of Evasion

Gold Needed to Obtain:

800 gold

How to obtain:

To obtain Sharpy, you need to defeat Ylmer and then cross to the Reddish portal. Once on this map, you will want to head to the event node named “Harpy Nest – The Harpy Matriarch.” The easiest path to this node would be heading north from town and completing the first 2 nodes, then skipping the colosseum fights; from there, you can either head to the forge to modify your cards/skip the node or to the rest node. Both of these paths will take you to the Mountain Peak combat node, which leads to the Harpy Nest, which we are looking for.

The Harpy Nest node will have you fighting the Harpy Matriarch mini-boss, and after defeating her, you will have dialogue and will want to select the [Loot] option. After selecting your items/gold, you should now see a Harpy Egg in your Bag of Useful Items at the top of the screen.

Our next steps are going to be defeating Ignidoh and then crossing the Greenish portal. Once we reach Aquarfall Marsh, we will want to head to the middle of the map to a Crafter node named “Altar – Altar of Songs.” The easiest path will be through the middle combat node from the town named “Town Outskirts,” then to the event node named “Eastern Village – An Empty Village.” From there, you will want to head to the event node named “Battlefield” and select the [Leave] option to leave before things get too rowdy.

We are almost there, continue to the event node named “South Pier – Jack, the Boat Seller” and select the [Buy] option to buy the boat for 800 gold and guarantee we make it to the Altar. Take the boat across the water to the combat node named “Temple Stairs” and then head up to the Altar node with the glowing Harpy Egg icon next to it. This will open a dialogue screen, and we want to select the [Continue] option with the Harpy Egg icon next to it; doing this will open the Item Rewards screen, and one of the options for your party will be Sharpy!

Slimy – The Adorable Ooze!

Stats:

+4% to ALL resistances

[Every Turn] Cast the card “Poison Splash.”

[Poison Splash]:

Target: All Monsters

Effect: Apply 1 stack of poison

How to obtain:

To obtain Slimy, you need to defeat Ylmer on the first map and then Cross the Greenish portal. Once on the second map, you need to travel down to the event node named “Western Village – The Lizardmen Tribe” and select the [Buy] option to purchase either the homemade slime bait or both items. If you select both items, you can head south to the “The Shore” event node, and using the nails you just bought, you only need to roll higher than a 3 to cross the river (note: failure of this skill check still allows you to cross, your members will take a wound card). If you only purchased the slime bait, I suggest going through the “The Battlefield” event node and then to the “Creeper Bridge” combat node.

We will be taking the slime bait that we bought into the “Spider Lair” map transition node. Once making it to the “Spider Lair,” you will see an event node named “Poisonous River – Slimes on the Bridge” with the slime bait icon next to it; this is where we are headed. You need to head through the “Cave Center” combat node and then head south to make it there.

Once you’ve made it to the “Poisonous River” event node, you will want to select the [Throw] option with the slime bait icon next to it, and an Item Rewards menu will open up, and one of your characters will be able to claim Slimy as a pet.

Stormy – Always in a bad mood…shocking!

Stats:

+6% lightning resistance

[Every Turn] Cast the card “Lightning Bolt.”

[Lightning Bolt]:

Target: Random Monster

Effect: Deal 5 lightning damage and apply 2 stacks of Spark

Gold Needed to Obtain:

800 gold

How to obtain:

To obtain Stormy, we need to defeat Ylmer and cross to the Greenish portal. From town, we want to head to the middle combat node named “Town Outskirts,” after beating this fight, you want to continue going right to the event node named “Eastern Village – An empty village,” where you want to select the [Look] option to look for anything interesting but don’t take anything. This should give you the Naga Notes item in your Bag of Useful Items. We next need to go to the event node named “South Pier – Jack, the boat seller,” which we can get to from either the event node named “Battlefield” or the combat node named “Patrol Point.” We want to take the [Buy] action at the South Pier and pay 800 gold to guarantee we get the boat and go where we want.

Next, take your new boat and head north to the combat node named “Temple Access.” After beating the naga, all that’s left to do is head north again to the event node named “Naga Mural – The Lightning Runes.” A dialogue box will open, and you will want to select the [Read] Decipher the mural using the nagas notes option. An Item Rewards screen will open, and one of your characters will be able to select Stormy as a pet!
