Citizen Sleeper 2: Managing The RIG, Crew Tasks, Stress, and DICE
THE RIG is your ship and home in the Starward Belt. While THE RIG is docked at a HUB, there are multiple areas you can visit.
BUNKS:
Use DICE to reduce STRESS.
GALLEY:
Use SUPPLIES to regain ENERGY.
WORKSHOP:
REPAIR DICE using COMPONENTS.
ENGINE:
UPGRADE the FUEL capacity of THE RIG.
Other locations will unlock as you play.
While THE RIG is in dock at a HUB, your crew will also help to gather resources to contribute to the upkeep of the ship.
You can choose which resources they should focus on in the CREW TASK menu to the left. They have a random chance of acquiring it at the beginning of the following CYCLE.
During a CONTRACT, CREW ACTIONS cannot be performed, neither can any of the other actions (Repairs, upgrades, stress reduction) available at THE RIG.
STRESS:
Your STRESS tracks both physical and mental stresses you accrue.
You accrue STRESS by undertaking DICE ACTIONS, while STARVING, or when using the PUSH ability on a CONTRACT. You can have a maximum of 10 STRESS.
When your DICE are rolled at the start of the CYCLE, your STRESS dictates if they take damage or not. HIGHER STRESS means a higher chance of damage. The white markers above the STRESS BAR tell you which numbers will damage your DICE when rolled.
When at a HUB, you can reduce STRESS at the RIG BUNKS location using DICE.
Each DICE has three DICE HEALTH. When this is depleted, the DICE WILL BREAK, and must be repaired to be used normally. On SAFE difficulty, broken DICE are worth 1. On all other difficulties, they cannot be used.
When at a HUB, you can REPAIR DICE at the RIG WORKSHOP location (once unlocked) by using RARE and SCRAP COMPONENTS.
On RISKY and DANGEROUS difficulty, if all of your DICE are broken, your character will die. ON RISKY difficulty, this means you will gain one PERMANENT GLITCH. ON DANGEROUS, your game will end.
DRIVES:
DRIVES help you choose your objectives in Citizen Sleeper 2, and allow you to upgrade your character with UPGRADE POINTS.
The arrow button in the top left opens the DRIVE MENU where you can choose which DRIVE to track. Once a DRIVE is tracked, a yellow dot will be placed above any location that relates to that drive.
DRIVES come in two types: MAJOR and MINOR. On completion, a MAJOR drive rewards 3 UPGRADE POINTS and a MINOR rewards 1.
UPGRADES:
UPGRADES can be unlocked on the CHARACTER SCREEN, accessed by pressing the arrow button on the top right of the screen.
On the CHARACTER SCREEN, you can upgrade your SKILLS to improve the SKILL MODIFIER applied to your DICE when you undertake an action. You can also upgrade your PUSH, the unique ability of your CLASS.
When upgrading your PUSH, only one UPGRADE at each level can be active at once. You can configure which upgrade is active only while at a HUB. Your PUSH cannot be configured during a CONTRACT.
