By pressing L2 (PS4 & PS5) / LT (Xbox One & Xbox Series X|S) and R2 (PS4 & PS5) / RT (Xbox One & Xbox Series X|S) while continuing to dribble the ball, you can cancel any pass or shot request.

 

Please keep in mind that, due to potential delays, canceling passes and shots may not always work. The X button on PlayStation and the A button on Xbox can also be used to cancel a shot.
